In the summer of 2023, a military family we knew posted on a local Facebook page that they needed some part-time help with their trash can cleaning business, Simply Clean Bins.
Never one to turn down an opportunity to help, my wife Serene reached out. The fact that she already had 3 small kids, a side-business restocking vending machines, and a volunteer service commitment that took hours every week, didn’t really equate to obstacles in her mind. “The kids can just sleep in the back of the truck while I clean trash cans!”, she thought. That misguided optimism lasted for maybe 1 week before reality set in. She struggled through another few weeks, until Tyler stepped in to help.
He had worked at a landscaping company through all of high school and college, and this kind of service-industry business felt like familiar territory. Having just sold our vending machine business, we were looking for a new way to serve our community.
After some consideration, we bought Simply Clean Bins. We worked through the next year, keeping as many bins clean as we could.
By then a competing company had reached out and asked about an acquisition, for us to buy them due to needing to move out of state. They had more customers and brand recognition, so then we became Trash Can Shine, the name you know today!
Earlier this year, Tyler moved his brother to Colorado Springs to help run the business, truly making trash cans a family affair. We are family and veteran owned and operated, and we’re ready to make your trash cans SHINE!
